Car Lockout Service in Fairfield

Keys sitting on the seat at a gas station on North Texas Street, or locked in the trunk at the Suisun Waterfront: it happens to everyone once. Operators open vehicles with professional wedge-and-reach tools, the same equipment roadside clubs use, without drilling locks or breaking glass.

Kids or pets locked inside? Say so when you call and your job jumps the queue. If it’s an emergency, call 911 first; Fairfield PD and Suisun Fire will break a window when seconds matter, and we’ll handle the situations that aren’t life-threatening.

Locked in, lost, or a dead fob: three different problems

Keys visible on the seat or in the ignition is the simplest case. The car gets opened with wedge and long-reach tools, you grab your keys, and you are on your way. Most modern cars, including keyless ones, open this way without any damage to the door, the seal or the window.

Lost keys are different. Opening the door does not help if there is no key to start the car, so you need either a spare from home, a dealer, or an automotive locksmith who can cut and program a new key. If the fob simply died, the hidden physical key inside it will usually open the driver door, and holding the fob against the start button often starts the car anyway.

What to have ready when the operator arrives

Expect to be asked for proof that the car is yours before it is opened. A photo ID with an address that matches the registration is the usual standard, and the registration or insurance card itself can be checked once the door is open. It is a quick step, and it protects you as much as anyone.

Tell dispatch the exact spot. "The Solano Town Center garage, level two, near the elevators" or "the gas station at North Texas Street and Air Base Parkway" saves the operator from circling a big lot looking for one car.

When a child or pet is inside

On a warm Fairfield afternoon the inside of a closed car can reach dangerous temperatures in minutes. If a child or an animal is locked in and showing any sign of distress, call 911 right away. Police and fire crews will break a window when that is the fastest way in, and a window is cheap compared to the alternative.

If the situation is not urgent, say so on the call and the job moves to the front of the line. Stay with the car, keep the windows shaded if you can, and keep talking to a child inside so they stay calm until the door is open.

Questions we get about car lockouts

Can you unlock a car with the engine running?

Yes, that’s one of the most common calls we get, especially on cold mornings when people warm the car up and the door locks behind them.

What if my key fob battery died?

Most fobs hide a physical key inside, and most keyless cars have a hidden lock cylinder. The operator can show you, or simply open the car.
